🌿 Attars vs. Perfumes

What is the main difference between your Perfumes and Attars?

Our perfumes come in a spray bottle and are crafted with a fine mist base, offering an immediate aura of scent around you. Our attars are 100% pure, alcohol-free fragrance oils that are applied directly to the skin using a glass applicator, offering a longer-lasting, intimate scent experience. Both lines feature the exact same signature fragrance blends.

Yes, all Piviani attars are completely pure fragrance oils and contain zero alcohol. They are ideal for sensitive skin and for those who prefer traditional, natural oil-based fragrances.

Attars generally last longer on the skin (often 12+ hours) because pure oils evaporate much slower than sprays. However, perfume sprays push the scent further into the air around you, creating a stronger initial trail when you walk into a room.

💧 Application & Usage Tips

Where is the best place to apply Attar oil?

Apply a drop of attar using the glass applicator onto your pulse points—where your body generates natural heat:

  • Inner wrists

  • Behind the earlobes

  • Base of the neck / collarbone

  • Inside elbows

Pro Tip: Gently dab the oil onto your pulse points. Never rub your wrists together vigorously, as friction breaks down the top fragrance notes faster!

Spray from about 5–7 inches away onto warm pulse points (neck, wrists, and chest). For extra longevity, spray onto your clothes—perfume mist holds exceptionally well on natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and silk.

Yes! Combining both is a popular technique known as Fragrance Layering. Apply a drop of the Attar oil to your pulse points first, then lightly mist the corresponding Perfume Spray over your clothes. This gives you both strong projection and deep, long-lasting performance.

How do these fragrances perform in hot summer weather?

Our blends are specifically formulated with rich, deep base notes (like amber, oud, and sandalwood) that perform exceptionally well in warm environments. Heat actually helps activate the fragrance notes on your skin throughout the day.

Because attars are concentrated oils, we recommend applying them directly to your skin rather than light-colored fabrics. If you wish to apply attar near your collar, rub the oil between your palms first until it warms up, then lightly sweep your hands over dark clothing.

When stored properly, our perfumes and attars maintain their richness for 2 to 3 years. To preserve their quality:

  • Keep bottles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

  • Avoid storing them in humid bathrooms.

  • Keep the cap tightly sealed when not in use.

Every person has unique skin chemistry, natural moisture levels, and pH balances. Factors like skin type (oily vs. dry skin) and warmth affect how scent notes unfold, making each fragrance smell slightly unique to you.
